Installation Instructions

NOTICE: It is highly recommended that you install a pressure regulator before your water filter system to protect your hoses, filter cartridges, filter housings, RV plumbing, connections, and more from fluctuating water pressure levels from campsite to campsite.

  1. Before installing the water filter cartridges, place the SP-RV300 unit on a level surface close to the water source faucet.

  2. Next, install the three water filter cartridges in the system.
    • Remove the protective wrap from each filter.
    • Using the labels on the bracket (#1 Carbon, #2 Ultrafiltration, #3 Descaler), install each filter into the three housings.
    • The ultrafiltration cartridge utilizes an up-flow design; and as a result, it must be inserted with the closed end down. “Bottom” is printed on the bottom end cap. Make sure that this bottom end is inserted into the housing first.

    • Ensure each filter is centered in each housing.

  3. Stand the 3 housings upright, and ensure each housing has a rubber O-ring in its groove and that the O-ring is not twisted.

  4. Hand twist the housings into the top cap and tighten them. If necessary, the enclosed wrench can be used, but be sure not to overtighten.

  5. Attach one end of the water supply hose (not included) to the water source faucet.

  6. Attach the other end of the hose to the inlet fitting on the SP-RV300.

  7. Slowly turn on the water supply to the SP-RV300.
Note: You may see blackish water coming out of the filter. This is caused by harmless carbon fines, and they will wash out.
  8. Flush until the water from the SP-RV300 is clear. Turn off water.

  9. Attach the water supply hose (not included) to the outlet of the SP-RV300.

  10. Attach the male end of the hose to the RV.

  11. Slowly turn on the water to the RV.

  12. Check for leaks.
Filter Storage
  1. Turn off the water supply.
  2. Press the three red buttons on the top of the SP-RV300 to relieve the water pressure.
  3. Remove the supply hose and allow it to drain.
  4. Remove the SP-RV300 from the water source.
  5. Remove each of the cartridge filter housings and remove the cartridges.
  6. Clean the filter housings with soap and warm water.
  7. Allow filters to air dry before storing. We recommend keeping the filters in a refrigerator between uses.
Filter Life
  • Your SP-RV300 is designed to provide you with one season of water filtration.
  • Because water quality from location to location can be significantly different, the life expectancy of your filter may vary.
Troubleshooting
Problem Solution
Leakage from the threads on the filter housing
  • Make sure the O-ring is properly seated in the groove.
  • Lubricate the O-ring with silicone grease.
  • Replace the O-ring if it is damaged.
  • Use the enclosed housing wrench to tighten the filter. Do not overtighten.
Leakage from the pressure relief button Press the pressure relief button several times.
Leakage from the inlet/outlet fittings Make sure the rubber gasket is properly inserted and is not twisted or damaged. If twisted or damaged, replace with one of the supplied spare gaskets.
Leakage from the 3rd stage housing for the SP-RVSC020 descaler cartridge Tighten the cartridge with a bit more force until it stops leaking. If it dents the top of the cartridge a bit, that is okay and will not cause any performance issues.
Reduced flow from the filter There may be a high level of sediment in the water that may have clogged the cartridges. Replace the filter cartridges.
Weak flow after installation or cartridge replacement Make sure that the Ultrafiltration cartridge is inserted with the closed end marked "Bottom" side down. The cartridge utilizes an up-flow design and must be inserted with the closed, bottom end first.
A change in the taste or smell of the water The filter media may be exhausted, possibly due to poor water conditions. Replace the filter cartridges.
White spots or scale deposits on plumbing fixtures White spots are rare, but may occasionally occur as the hardness minerals are not removed from water, but are simply altered to prevent them from sticking and forming hardwater deposits. When they occur, they can be removed by simply wiping them away with a soft cloth. If this doesn’t work, or the spots are hard, it may be time to replace the cartridges.
